I am a native Central New Yorker, where I earned degrees from Le Moyne College and Syracuse University, and where I worked for more than 25 years as a high school teacher in the city of Syracuse. When not writing or reading, you're likely to find me spending time with my school teacher wife, Colleen, or hiking the local trails with our dog, Sadie.
I come from a family of undersized hockey players, so tenacious people. I am fairly considered to be the black sheep of my family, but when your family name is as glowing as mine, you can wear the title shamelessly. I also come from a family of school teachers, so talkers. With age, I have tried to do more of my talking in written form, where my words are only of consequence to those who care enough to read them.
I have done many jobs in my life, from dirty, hard ones like loading tractor trailers for FedEx, to easy, lazy ones, like coaching tennis, and have a healthy respect for all work done well, or at least attempted to be. A career high school teacher and lifelong novel reader, I have written plenty, but this is my first work of fiction. When I was young, I wanted to be a writer, which I think is why I never became one. Somewhere along the line my perspective changed, and that desire was replaced by the simple desire to write, which I do now with more pleasure than ever.

A New York billionaire with an extremely rare blood type needs a heart transplant. There are only a handful of suitable donors in the world. Desperate to save him and with unlimited resources, his son takes matters into his own hands.
Oliver is a recovered alcoholic in Texas. Never a very good son to his deceased parents nor sibling to his brother, he fears his brother Emmet has gone missing. He drops everything and travels to New York City in search of him. He learns his brother was lured away from his dream job in Manhattan by a little known microchip maker upstate, but when Oliver looks deeper, it first appears that his brother has up and vanished, then he discovers that someone powerful has gone a long way to hide the truth.
With the help of Emmet’s magnetic and ever hopeful girlfriend, and a cadre of strong female characters, Oliver uncovers his family secret about his brother’s rare “golden blood,” and suspects a conspiracy has been hatched to abduct him for it. As Oliver gets closer to finding Emmet, he learns the truth is even more sinister than his suspicions. With time running out, Oliver enlists the help of an eclectic, ad hoc army of new friends to mount a daring and dangerous rescue.
A suspenseful ride with action, romance and humor, this novel’s infectious characters and fast paced plot will have readers laughing, crying, but mostly turning the pages. The novel's setting in Central New York will no doubt have regional appeal. The story's redemptive message and love of family will leave readers in much better spirits than it found them.
