Colleen Coyne imagines plots and characters while passing long hours confined to an airplane seat. She spends considerable time in the air as an international trade specialist working to develop markets around the globe for New England and Mid-Atlantic seafood. Her marriage to a Dane also keeps her hopping between homes in the USA and Europe. From their balcony in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France, Colleen can gaze across a small bay to the peninsula of Cap Ferrat and glimpse some of King Leopold's storied properties. Her wondering about how the Belgian King could spend more time there than in his kingdom led Colleen to research his life. That majestic view, the King's influence on the region's history, and the vast ill-begotten fortune he worked tirelessly to amass and hide inspired The Unintended Heiress.
