T.A. Young is a children's author and freelance writer in Connecticut. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College and a Master of Arts from Yale Graduate School. A former junior high teacher and children’s librarian, today she devotes time to research and writing projects, also volunteering as Director of Education for a non-profit (soberworld.org).While completing a writing course at The Institute of Children’s Literature, she published her first article in Nature Friend magazine in 2009. Shortly after, she embarked on a novel idea and joined a NaNoWriMo group for National Novel Writing Month. Her Christian children’s series, Merlin & Martha (written under pen name Tammy Young Coté), was launched. Fans of The Calling, The Way of the Warrior, and Darkness at #5 Elm now await the fourth book in progress. Always a fan of science fiction, the author envisioned the opening scene of The Braylen Cure in response to a writing prompt for a class at the Institute. The characters stayed with her and she felt compelled to write the rest of the story in 2016.
Tammy is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), participates in NaNoWriMo activities and meets with a writing buddy to share projects and critiques.
